Television is a specialised industry.   Specialist- better than anyone else in one area, weaker in other things. Traditional TV series-  UK drama series 6-8 episodes. UK Comedy series 6 episodes    American Comedy are 20-24 episodes. Humans has 8 episodes. Humans was originally made in Sweden, but was remade for UK audiences. Television in the 21st century. Television has changed considerably since the advent of digital technology in terms of its production, distribution and consumption. It has become a global, rather than a national industry and has become increasingly commercial, with public service broadcasting forced to adapt its structure, role and function. Genre and intertextuality Genre- a type of media product governed by implicit rules that are shared by the makers of the product and the audience for it.  Videogames genres: Horror  Sport  Action  Arcade Sci-fi Fantasy  Shooters Racing Music Obscure genres: Giallo Danmaku Shooter Visual Novel Vaporwave Grindcore Hybrid Genres-  The mix of a few different genres to make its own genre.
