Comparing Advertisement genres

Charity adverts and high end advertising Repertoire of elements modes of address ideology representation, including use of stereotypes Charity adverts always try to make the audience feel like the bad guy by having adverts that have sad but gentle music playing over a narration on how something is happening to the victim of the advert and how we can change their lives by donating. They usually use a direct mode of address by having the word 'you' included in the advert as if to say that we need to donate otherwise we are not doing enough and the problems of the victims will be our fault. They sometimes use children and try and make us sympathise with them by including high angle shots of us looking down on them to make them seem weaker and less able to fend for themselves. In WaterAid adverts they have close ups of the children drinking dirty water and looking at the camera as to make us want to donate as we feel sorry for them as they are so innocent and are...

Learning Conversations

What do you think has gone particularly well so far this year?  I think that the things that have gone well this year are things such as my analysis of media is getting better, it is still not great but i feel more confident in this. Another thing that is going well is the class discussions as i feel like that is very helpful hearing other peoples opinions on different media texts as they may be similar to mine or different which is interesting to me.  What are your strengths?  I am mostly on time, i always try my best to write out notes, i go home and read back my blog.  What is stopping you from achieving your goals? What threats might you face, (for example not enough time, lack of organisation, pressure from other subjects...) I find it hard to revise my notes sometimes as i don't think they are great,  i can't keep up sometimes with the notes in class. Identify 3 specific targets for yourself for the rest of this year. They can be both academic...
