Claude Levi Strauss- Structuralism

Binary opposition- Where two concepts, messages or values are presented in direct opposition with another one. Strauss suggested that our world is based on two perceptions.

Binary oppositions are an element of narrative, as they can quickly tell a story and establish character archetypes.


The function of an advert

• to make you feel better
• to promote a product or a new thing 
• show different roles of society 
• to show a widely well belief of people 
• promote different types of people 

Ideology- the beliefs and values of a media product.

The producer is the maker of the product. 

Dominant Ideology- the set of ideas or culture that is most common or widely accepted in a society. 

The dominant ideology can change over time.

Ideology signification of this advert is a beautiful women with make up on and this can be suggesting that you are only beautiful when you are wearing make up. This is the only time that women could be seen attractive possibly.  in order to achieve that standard of attractiveness and her eyes are being in line and if they weren't in line then she would be considered unattractive. The fact that if she isnt wearing make up and that she need to keep them in check so they are in line with the views of society.
